I did not know Kits Mbeboh personally, but he had a very profound effect on my mind. When I was in the lower sixth form I read a poem written by Kits Mbeboh titled "On the fact of being sentimental". The poem was so true and touching in subject and highly evocative in imagery and diction that I wrote a poem, my first poem with his as my template.I have been writing poetry since then.
