To state the facts of Professor Mbeboh's passing and the shock of it all is to echo what so many have stated already, but how can anyone resist an urge that comes so naturally? Nevertheless, I choose to remember the man who was also my professor at the University of Yaounde as a beloved gentleman, who 'insulted' us as 'skallywags' all in good humor. I took at least two course from him and I can state categorically that fewer professors commanded as much respect and admiration as Professor Mbeboh. So great was my respect for him that I had no idea from what part of Cameroon he came. That did not matter because the man rose high above the rustic fray of tribalism in which so many were bound. Truth be told, it is only since the news of his death hit me that I discovered for the first time that he was a Libialem man; and that changes nothing! May the Lord, the Father of all comfort be with the family through this trying time. Pascal Buma, PhD Associate Professor of English
